Baking Pork Tenderloin

Oven-roasted pork tenderloin doesn’t have to just be a Sunday Supper kind of meal, you can actually have it on the table fairly quickly!

Is Searing Pork Tenderloin Necessary?

Searing the tenderloin creates a crust on the pork, which gives the meat a fabulous depth of flavor.  If you’re short on time, this step can be skipped, but I wouldn’t recommend it.

While your pork tenderloin is searing, make a batch of Cowboy Butter. This is one of our most popular recipes here on Juggling Act Mama, and it adds so much incredible flavor!  This will be used to finish off the oven baked pork tenderloin just before serving.

At what temperature do you cook oven roasted pork?

Cook the pork tenderloin at 400-degrees F on a sheet pan.

How long to you bake pork tenderloin?

At 400-degreees, pork tenderloin needs to cook 18-20 minutes.

What temperature should you cook pork tenderloin to?

Pork tenderloin needs to cook until the internal temperature reaches 145-degress F. However, please note that it is important to let the pork rests, during which time the meat will continue to cook.

Is it safe to eat pink pork?

There are new guidelines for pork. The USDA now recommends cooking pork between 145-degrees F, and then letting it rest for a minimum of 3 minutes.  The pork may be a little pink in the middle, but it is safe to eat.

How To Make Oven Roasted Pork Tenderloin

  1. Season the pork tenderloin with granulated garlic, fresh thyme leaves, salt and pepper.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large skillet on high heat.
  3. Sear the pork tenderloin on all sides.
  4. Remove the pork from the skillet and place it into the center of the sheet pan.
  5. Cook the pork at 400-degrees F for 18-20 minutes until the internal temperature is 145-degrees F.
  6. Place 2-3 slices of Cowboy Butter on the top of the roast while it rests (optional).
  7. Cover the oven roasted pork tenderloin with tinfoil and allow it to rest 3-8 minutes before slicing.

  • DO use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature and remove it from the oven at 145-degrees F.
  • DO use tinfoil to make a “tent” and allow the oven roasted pork tenderloin to rest 3-8 minutes before cutting.

How to Roast Vegetables with Oven Baked Pork Tenderloin

To make an easy meal, I cut potatoes and carrot into 1-2 inch pieces and cook them right on the tray with the pork tenderloin.  Prepare the veggies while you are searing the pork tenderloin. Here’s how:

  1. Preheat the oven to 400-degrees F.
  2. Spray a sheet pan with cooking oil.
  3. Peel 4 large cloves of garlic and add them to the tray.
  4. Add the vegetables to the tray and season with granulated garlic, fresh thyme leaves, salt and pepper.
  5. Place the tray in the oven while you finish searing the pork.
  6. When the pork is ready for the oven, place it in the center of the tray.
  7. Bake for another 18-20 minutes until the pork is done, then remove it to a serving dish or cutting board to rest.
  8. If  needed, return the sheet pan to the oven to finish cooking the vegetables until tender.

Excellent recipe, I love the way that this turned out. I didn’t have fresh thyme so I used dried instead.
I added potatoes, carrots, and parsnips to the sheet pan.
