💭 Frequently Asked Questions
Here are some questions (and answers!) readers often ask about this broccoli chicken pasta casserole recipe.
Yes, for this broccoli pasta recipe, the spaghetti should be cooked before it goes into the oven.
Rinsing the pasta helps stop the cooking process. Since this is a baked dish, be sure to cook the pasta accurately, rinse it, and allow it to drain so that it doesn't become overcooked in the oven.
Broccoli is a great vegetable for not only fiber, vitamins C and K, folic acid, and iron, but it's also higher in protein than a lot of other veggies. Steaming broccoli helps keep these nutrients.
Yes, shredded rotisserie chicken is perfect for this easy pasta bake recipe.
⭐ Tips
✔️ Drain any liquid from the pasta and broccoli before mixing it with the cheese sauce.
✔️ If the sauce is too thick, whisk in dash or two of chicken broth.
✔️ Do not overbake the casserole or the broccoli and spaghetti will become mushy.
Storage
To Store: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. (These are my favorite airtight containers.)
To Reheat: The best way to reheat this is in a skillet over low heat. Add a splash of milk while gently tossing the spaghetti mixture around to warm through.
I do not recommend freezing this casserole.

The first time you try any new recipe we recommend that you make it just as it is written on the recipe card since that is how the recipe has been tested. However, the next time you make our recipe, you might want to try one of these ideas:
- Instead of broccoli, add a small bag of mixed veggies with corn, carrots, peas, or green beans.
- Use a mixture of steamed cauliflower and broccoli.
- Add a pinch of red pepper flake to the cream sauce for a little hint of heat.
- Substitute other good melting cheeses like Colby, swiss, muenster, provolone, or fontina.
- Add a sprinkle of grated parmesan cheese to the top of the casserole before baking.
- Instead of using shredded chicken, leftover chopped chicken breasts or chicken thighs will also work.
