Compound butters are just a fancy way of saying butter with flavors added into them. They're so simple to make, but add a nice touch and great flavor. I really like making them for company and holiday meals.
When it comes to easy recipes, it doesn't get much more basic than this! Unsalted butter and light or dark brown sugar, and that's it! Who knew such a simple recipe could be so good!?!
Brown Sugar Butter is an easy way to add lots of flavor. It is delicious on buttermilk pancakes, French toast, and waffles, of course, but also biscuits and cornbread. Try this on top of a baked or mashed sweet potatoes for an amazingly delicious quick side dish.

- light brown sugar OR dark brown sugar

- Let the butter come up to room temperature.
- Place butter into a large bowl or into your stand mixer.
- Whip the butter until smooth and creamy.
- Add the brown sugar and combine until smooth.
- On a piece of parchment paper, form the butter mixture into a log and roll up the paper, twisting the ends.
- Refrigerate 1 hour.

Store in an airtight container in the fridge. It will last for about 2 weeks in the refrigerator.
You can also roll it like a log, wrap it in parchment paper and place it into a freezer bag. It will last about 3 months in the freezer.
