Are you a snacker? I am! So I try to turn to healthy snacks as much as possible. These homemade pita chips are my new favorite snack. They're easy to make, and you can flavor them in a variety of ways. These pita chips pair perfectly with my homemade hummus, too!
I like to try to come up with new snacks, so I'm not eating the same thing every day. I get bored easily with that, and when I get bored with my healthier snacks I start craving brownies and cookies. 😉 One day I thought I would try homemade pita chips after having some with a friend. I cut a whole wheat tortilla in 8 wedges and then cut those wedges in half (they'll pull apart at the "seam" pretty easily). Then I brushed a little bit of olive oil on the pitas and sprinkled them with Parmesan cheese and garlic salt. Less than 10 minutes later, I was enjoying a flavorful snack of pita chips dipped in hummus.
The varieties you could make with these really are endless. I like to sprinkle the pitas with a cinnamon sugar mixture for a sweet treat. Another option would be to spice them up with some chili powder. Or what about a ranch seasoning? Be creative and come up with your own favorite flavoring!

Ingredients
- whole wheat pita bread
- olive oil
- garlic salt
- Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- First, cut the pita bread in half, then cut each half evenly into 4 pieces. Separate each pita wedge at the seam, making 2 wedges.
- Next, place the wedges evenly spaced on a parchment paper lined baking sheet and brush them lightly with olive oil.
- Then sprinkle garlic salt and Parmesan evenly over the chips.
- Then bake at 350 degrees for 7 minutes, until the edges of the pitas turn brown.
- Finally, serve them with hummus!

Yum! They sound really great. I'm trying to eat healthier, most of the time. I'm not a hummus fan, but I bet they would be great with refried beans, only not fried. 🙂 Thank you for linking up to Tips and Tricks. I will be pinning this. Hope to see you again next week!
