    ⭐ Tips

Tips for Making Peppermint Hot Chocolate Bombs

    • In my opinion, good-quality chocolate melts are worth the extra expense. After all, If you're taking the time to make your own hot cocoa bombs, I think you should use the best ingredients you can afford - especially if you're gifting them!
    • Pop the peppermint candies into a food processor and pulse 3-4 times to quickly crush the candies. Alternatively, put them into a resealable bag and use a rolling pin to crush them.
    • Before starting, make sure the silicone tray is completely clean and dry.
    • Set the mold onto a plate, tray, or cutting board so you have a solid base. It will also make it so much easier to transfer to the freezer.
    • Do not overfill your mold.
    • Chill your hot chocolate bombs for at least 30 minutes before handling them to ensure that they stay together.
    • Check out this post with detailed step-by-step images for how to make hot chocolate balls.

    🍲 Storage

To Store: Peppermint Hot Chocolate Bombs should be stored in an airtight container. I store my in the back of the fridge, but a pantry closet at room temperature works as well. (These are my favorite airtight containers.)

    📖 Variations

The first time you try any new recipe we recommend that you make it just as it is written on the recipe card since that is how the hot chocolate bomb recipe has been tested. However, the next time you make our recipe, you might want to try one of these ideas:

    • Substitute the white chocolate for milk chocolate or dark chocolate melts if you prefer. You could even use red candy melts or look for peppermint candy melts.
    • Inside the hot cocoa bombs, you can also add mini marshmallows, mini chocolate chips, chocolate peppermint crunch bits.
    • Any sort of peppermint hard candy will work, or you can use crushed candy canes.

    🍴 Serving Suggestions

To serve your hot cocoa, place one bomb into the bottom of a mug. Pour 1 cup of hot milk (or milk substitute) over the bomb and stir until the cocoa mixture is smooth. If you prefer, you can also make it with hot water, however, the cocoa will not be as creamy.

These are a great addition to a hot chocolate board along with Christmas snickerdoodles, OREO truffles, and whatever other treats you love!
