Homemade cotton candy ice cream starts with heavy cream, sometimes also called heavy whipping cream. I adore homemade whipped cream and this easy recipe starts with beating the cream just like that.

Honestly, I don’t think there is an easier homemade ice cream recipe out there!

Here are the simple ingredients you’ll need to make your new favorite ice cream:

🔪 Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the sweetened condensed milk, vanilla, and cotton candy flavoring. Set aside.
  2. In another bowl, beat the heavy cream with a stand mixer or hand mixer until stiff peaks form.
  3. Gently fold the whipped cream into the sweetened condensed milk mixture.
  4. Divide the ice cream base into two bowls.
  5. Color one ice cream mixture with red food coloring and the other with blue food coloring.
  6. Scoop the whipped mixture into a loaf pan, alternating as you go. Cover with plastic wrap.
  7. Freeze for 3-4 hours until firm.

Note: If you prefer to make just pink or just blue cotton candy ice cream, you can do that, too.

✔️ The amount of food coloring will vary: when using gel food coloring you’ll use less than liquid food coloring.

✔️ Whip the cream until the liquid is stiff enough to stand up when you pull the beater out.

To Store: Ice cream should be kept in an airtight container in the freezer. Homemade ice cream will last for about 2 weeks.
