How to Make Stuffed Pizza Rolls
- Preheat oven to 350-degrees F.
- Divide your dough into equal pieces. Each piece should be approximately the size of an egg. Roll out the dough flat, into a circle shape.
- Place a dollop of sauce, 2 small sections of pepperoni, and a 1/3 piece of the herbed cheese stick. Or, if you prefer, use plain mozzarella cheese sticks, and add a pinch of garlic and herb spice mix to flavor each little jewel! Gather edges of the dough and pinch in the center, enveloping all the ingredients inside the dough.
- Place in a greased baking dish, seam side down.
- When all buns are assembled, brush the tops with the melted butter mixture.
- Bake for approximately 20 minutes or until the buns are golden brown.
- Serve hot with additional sauce for dipping, if desired.
Recipe Variations
These little cheese and pepperoni bombs are a lot like stromboli. You can make them with a lot of different ingredients and they’ll turn out super tasty. Here are some substitution ideas:
- Use any kind of good melting cheese you like for these. Some of my favorites are gouda, fontina, gruyere, and provolone.
- Swap out the pepperoni for prosciutto, salami or ham.
- Make a veggie version with chopped red, orange and yellow peppers, pitted black olives, diced red onions, and sliced mushrooms.
