This creamy dip is the fastest appetizer you’ll ever make!

This dip is perfect for a spur-of-the-moment get-together because it’s literally the easiest entertaining dip I’ve ever made! Honestly, it hardly deserves a recipe card as it’s just cream cheese and salsa blended, but sometimes easy is best.

All my friends know I have a food blog and have come to expect that I bring something, usually a baked good, to gatherings. I love baking, but sometimes you need a break from the sweets (and sometimes my oven is out of room to add one more cookie sheet!).

Ingredients

  • Cream Cheese: I like to use regular cream cheese, but low-fat also works. If you don’t have cream cheese on hand, you can substitute 16 ounces of sour cream instead.
  • Homemade or Store-Bought Salsa: You can use your favorite salsa, whether it’s chunky salsa, hot salsa, or whatever else you like, to make this easy cream cheese dip. Whether it’s game day, Cinco de Mayo, Taco Tuesday, or whatever else, this truly is the perfect easy appetizer.

Variations:

  • If you have a few extra minutes, you can jazz up your cream cheese and salsa dip by adding shredded cheddar cheese to the top or some black beans. Corn kernels, diced onion, or sliced black olives would also be good. Some diced green onions would also be a great addition to this easy dip recipe.
  • Add a little bit of Taco Seasoning for more flavor.
  • For a smoother dip, you can use picante sauce instead of salsa.

Storage

You can store the dip in an airtight container for a couple of days, but it’s really best served right away. Otherwise, it can become a little runny and look a bit unappetizing.

Serving Suggestions

This Cream Cheese and Salsa Dip couldn’t be easier – it’s one of my favorite taco bar side dishes! You can make this as simple or elaborate as you like by serving it with just chips, or create a charcuterie board like tortilla chips, Homemade Pita Chips, carrot and celery sticks, and other dippers.

Sometimes, for parties, I like to create a whole bunch of dips and salsas, and everyone can enjoy their favorites. This cream cheese salsa dip would be perfect alongside Homemade Mango Salsa, Layered Taco Dip, and Cowboy Caviar.
