🔪 Instructions
- Pour ¼ cup of pineapple juice into a bowl and whisk with corn starch. Set aside.
- In a medium saucepan, combine your remaining ingredients.
- Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
- Stir together your cornstarch mixture into the saucepan.
- Reduce to medium heat and continue stirring as the sauce simmers. This should take around 20 minutes.
- Your sauce is done when it reaches your desired consistency.

To Store: Leftover sauce should be stored in an airtight container in the fridge. It will keep for 5-7 days. (These are my favorite airtight containers.)
📖 Variations
The first time you try any new recipe we recommend that you make it just as it is written on the recipe card since that is how the sweet and sour recipe has been tested. However, the next time you make our recipe, you might want to try one of these ideas:
- Add a pinch of red pepper flakes - a little bit goes a long way so taste as you go.
- If you prefer, you can use fresh pineapple juice or substitute orange juice
- For a smoother sauce without pineapple tidbits, use an immersion blender.

Ingredients
- 2 cups pineapple juice divided
- 3 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 cup sugar
- ¾ cup ketchup
- ⅔ cup white vinegar rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar also work
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons crushed pineapple
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- black pepper to taste
Instructions

- Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
- Stir together your cornstarch slurry into the saucepan.
- Reduce the heat to medium-low and continue stirring as the sauce simmers. This should take around 20 minutes.
- Your sauce is done when it reaches your desired consistency.
