How do you set the table for Thanksgiving?
You can set your Thanksgiving table the night before. I love finding just the right tablecloth, napkins, and these Printable Thanksgiving Place Cards are perfect for completing the tablescape.
If you are setting a very formal table for the holiday, you might like to check out this post. For an elegant but simple table, follow these guidelines:
- Place forks on the left, and the knife and spoons on the right.
- I like using a pretty napkin ring and setting it right on top of the plate along with one of these little Gratitude Cards and a small pencil.
- Place glasses to the left, above the fork.
- Place cards should be centered above the dinner plate.

Table Tent Cards for Your Buffet and Dessert Tables
If you’re setting up a fall buffet or dessert table, little table tent cards are such an easy way to help everyone know what they can enjoy. I love using them at family gatherings because we have quite a few different dietary needs to keep in mind. My nephew has an anaphylactic allergy to eggs, two of my sisters are gluten-free, and my aunt is vegan, so we’re always extra careful about what’s being served.
Label dishes that are gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan, or contain common allergens so your guests don’t have to guess or keep asking what’s in everything. It’s especially helpful to call out the Top 9 food allergens, including milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, fish, shellfish, wheat, soy, and sesame.
These table tents are a great first step, but they don’t replace careful food handling. Cross-contact can happen when serving utensils, cutting boards, baking pans, or even crumbs come in contact with another dish, so keep that in mind when you’re preparing and setting out food for guests with serious allergies.
It only takes a few extra minutes to label everything clearly and be thoughtful about how it’s served, but it can make your guests feel so much more comfortable filling their plates and enjoying the party. 🧡 (They’re also great for bake sales!)

And because everyone always asks, here is the recipe for my Pumpkin Cheesecake Truffles. pictured above.

Printer Recommendation
