Garlic Parmesan Chicken Pasta

Creamy parmesan chicken pasta is a fantastic weeknight meal that's also great for date night! You'll love this pasta dish with zesty garlic, sharp and salty parmesan cheese, and a hint of Italian seasoning.

For the Chicken

  • 2 boneless skinless chicken breasts, cubed
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

For the Pasta

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cloves fresh garlic, minced about 2 teaspoons
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 8 oz fettuccine or spaghetti
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped optional

Instructions

Chicken

  • Season the chicken with with salt, pepper, and seasonings. Toss to coat.

  • In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.

  • Add the chicken to the skillet. Cook 5-7 minutes, stirring frequently to ensure the chicken pieces are browned on all sides.
  • Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside. Sprinkle chicken with parmesan cheese.
    1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Pasta and Sauce

  • While the chicken is cooking, cook the pasta according to the instructions on the package of pasta.
    8 oz fettuccine
  • In the same skillet used for the chicken, melt butter over medium heat.
    2 tablespoons butter
  • Add the garlic and cook 1 minute until fragrant and lightly golden.
    2 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • Add in the sauce ingredients and cook for 5 minutes to thicken, stirring constantly.
    1 cup heavy cream, 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese, 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt, 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Taste the sauce and add additional seasoning as desired.
  • Add the cooked pasta and toss to coat.
  • Add in the chicken on top of the pasta.
  • Garnish with additional parmesan and fresh parsley if desired.
    1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped

Notes

Shortcut

For a faster version, use shredded chicken or rotisserie chicken seasoned with the garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and parmesan cheese called for the chicken section of the recipe card.
