Preheat the oven to 350-degrees F. Line the cookies sheets with a silicone baking mat, or parchment paper.
In the bowl of an electric mixer, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the egg and mix well to combine.
Stir in the dry ingredients and the vanilla and mix until the dough comes together. Remove from the mixer and form into a ball.
Chill the dough, covered, for 30 minutes in the refrigerator.
Lightly flour your board and roll out the dough using a rolling pin.
Using the Cake Boss Halloween Fondant Bat Cutter, cut the bat shapes out.
Do not press down on the spring.
Place onto the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 8-10 minutes until the cookies are golden brown. Remove to a cooling rack.
Decorating Instructions
Knead the white fondant in your hands for a few minutes before adding the black food coloring. Continue kneading with your hands until the color is completely mixed throughout.
Use a fondant rolling pin or regular rolling pin to flatten a thin layer of the fondant, then cut out the bat shape. As you push down on the Bat Cutter, press the spring button - this will create the 3-dimensional indentations of the bat into the fondant.
Secure the fondant onto the cookies with a thin line of the black gel. Then, still using the black gel, carefully pipe the details you want to show black, such as on the eyes and wings. Use the red sparkle gel to make the eyes pop.
