Notes

Ang's Recipe Tips

  • Before cutting the orange in half, roll it on the countertop or cutting board, pushing it down slightly. This will help you get more juice out of the orange.
  • Normally, oil doesn't mix well with juices or vinegar, so you'll need to create an emulsion. Drizzle the oil into the bowl while whisking quickly to emulsify the dressing.

Variations

We recommend that you try our recipe for the first time just as it is written for the best results because that is how the recipe has been tested.
However, the next time you make it, you might consider one of these different ways of making this great recipe.
  • For a slightly sweeter dressing, whisk in 1 tablespoon of honey or agave syrup.
  • Substitute olive oil for vegetable oil, but be aware that it has a stronger flavor. A milder oil such as canola or soybean oil will allow the orange and poppy seed flavors to shine through more.
  • Add a small shallot or minced fresh garlic clove for a more savory flavor.
