Add 1/4-1/3 cup of batter to your heated waffle iron (the amount you add is determined by the size of your waffle iron)
Brush waffles with melted butter and toss in cinnamon sugar.
Notes
Buttermilk SubstituteIf you do not have buttermilk on hand, you can make your own buttermilk substitute. Choose which method is right for you, then mix it all together in a large measuring cup.
2 cups buttermilk = 2 cups plain yogurt
2 cups buttermilk = 1½ cups sour cream + ½ cup water or milk
Ang's Recipe Tips✔️I’ve used canola oil for these waffles instead of butter, which I tend to find yields a crispy churro waffles.✔️If you’re cooking a big batch of these waffles, a good way to prevent those already made from becoming soggy is to lay them on a baking sheet.✔️ While you want a smooth waffle batter, make sure that you don’t over-mix it, otherwise you can end up with dense and heavy waffles instead of light, fluffy, and crispy waffles due to gluten development!
