Ingredients

  • Mason Jars I used wide mouth but this method will work on any glass bottles or jars
  • White Glue such as Elmer's Glue
  • Food Coloring
  • Jute Twine
  • Paintbrush
  • Scissors
  • Paper Plate or something to put the glue on and then throw away
  • Craft sticks or something else to mix up the glue mixture
  • Wax Paper
  • Baking Sheet

Instructions

  • Add a couple of tablespoons of glue to the paper plate.
  • Next, add a few drops of food coloring to the glue. More food coloring will give the jars a richer color while less will create a more pastel look.
  • Pour the glue into your mason jar.
  • Twist and turn the jar to coat the inside, use the paintbrush to be sure you have evenly coated the inside of the jar.
  • Turn the jar upside down on a paper plate to allow the excess paint mixture to drain out.
  • After that, place the jar upside down on a newspaper, paper towel, or paper plate for 30 minutes. (Check periodically and wipe away any extra paint that might collect around the top of the jars).
  • Preheat the oven to the WARM setting.
  • Place the jars upside down on a baking sheet lined with wax paper.
  • Bake for 30 minutes.
  • Allow the glass to cool completely before handling.
  • Wrap the jute around the top of the jar several times and then tie a bow. You can add a dot of hot glue to secure the jute if you wish.

Notes

Add fresh flowers or tealights to style your sea glass mason jars.
