These easy apple danishes are simple to make and taste amazing. You'll love the sweet and tart apple filling and the caramel sauce is totally out of this world!
Apple Filling (skip this if using canned pie filling)
Add butter to the saucepan over medium heat and add the prepared apples with the brown sugar and apple pie spice. Bring to a simmer to cook the apples.
3 tablespoons unsalted butter, 1 teaspoon store-bought or homemade apple pie spice, brown sugar, 2 medium apples
Make a slurry with cornstarch and water. When it is well mixed, add it to the skillet with the vanilla extract.
Bring to a boil again, then reduce to low heat and cook for 3-4 minutes.Remove from the heat and let cool.
Assembling the Danishes
In a small bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese and white sugar.

Roll out the crescent roll dough or puff pastry dough into a large rectangle. Use a sharp knife or pizza cutter to slice the dough into 12 rectangles.

Spread the cream cheese mixture on each piece of dough - about 3 tablespoons.
Starting from the long end, rold and twist until the dough is about 10 inches long, then coil the dough into a spiral and tuck the end inside. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Use the back of a spoon to press down gently in the center of each danish and fill the well with 1-2 tablespoons of the apple mixture.

Bake for 22-25 minutes until golden brown. Remove and let cool 10-15 minutes before drizzling with icing and store-bought or homemade caramel sauce.
Icing
In a small bowl, add the powdered sugar and vanilla.
1 teaspoon vanilla extract, 1 cup powdered sugar
Add the milk one tablespoon at a time until the icing is the consistency you desire.
