Place a large pot on the stove and mix all the dry ingredients together.

Now add in your vegetable oil, water, and food coloring, start stirring. If you want a really deep color, add at least 1Tsp of food coloring. If you don't see a dark enough color, just keep adding drops until you achieve the perfect shade.

Continue stirring your ingredients over low/medium heat until the dough begins to pull away from the pot and also begins to stick together. I'd say it's close to 5 minutes of stirring.

Once you reach the right consistency, turn off the heat, place your dough onto wax paper or a cookie sheet and let cool for a few minutes, then knead.

If the play dough is too sticky after it cools, just add a little bit of flour and knead a little longer. This will help the consistency and make a less sticky dough.
