Combine the berries, orange juice and zest in a bowl and sprinkle with the sugar. Toss gently to coat. Let the berries macerate while you make the whipped cream.
Homemade Almond Whipped Cream
Before starting, put your mixer bowl and beaters in the freezer for at least 15 minutes. For the best whipped cream, everything should always be very cold.
Add all ingredients in the bowl at the same time. Beat on high until it starts to thicken – taste the whipped cream and add more almond extract if necessary.
Assembling
Spoon some of the whipped cream into the bottom of your cups. Add the berry mixture on top. Continue alternating with the berries and whipped cream.
Sprinkle with slivered almonds, if desired.
Notes
The whipped cream will hold up in the fridge for 24 hours or so. You can re-whip if it’s too thin.
