Butter Swim Biscuits

These delicious butter swim biscuits are flakey buttermilk biscuits that have been baked in butter to create a crispy layer of butter crust with a soft and fluffy interior.

Ingredients

  • 8 oz unsalted butter
  • 2 ½ cups all purpose flour
  • 4 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • 4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups buttermilk

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 425F.
  • Melt a stick of butter in the pan for 4-5 mins, but be careful not to let it brown.

  • Add the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt to a bowl and whisk to combine.

  • Pour in the buttermilk, and mix with a wooden spoon until thoroughly combined.

  • Remove your buttered pan from the oven and carefully pour the mixed batter on top.
  • Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until golden brown.

Notes

Note: if you prefer, you can use a microwave safe bowl to melt the butter. Grease your baking dish well and then add the dough and pour the melted butter on top.
These flaky biscuits can also be made in a cast iron skillet.
