- ½ cup parmesan cheese
- 12 slices bacon
- 1 package puff pastry dough
- 1 tablespoon dried basil
Preheat the oven to 400-degrees F.
In a small bowl, beat the egg with 2 tablespoons of water.

Unroll the puff pastry dough.

Use a knife or pizza cutter to cut the dough into 12 equal pieces.
Lightly brush the dough with the egg wash.
Sprinkle the dried basil and parmesan cheese over the dough.

Place a strip of bacon on a flat surface and lay a piece of dough on top.

Twist the dough and bacon 4-5 times.
Place the twist onto a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Repeat with the remaining pieces of bacon and dough.
Bake for 25-35 minute, until the bacon is golden brown.
These can be served warm or at room temperature.
Recipe Variations:
- use any hard cheese such as Parmigiano, Pecorino Romano or Dry Jack
- swap out dried basil for dried sage or dried rosemary
- add 2 tablespoons of Dijon mustard to the egg wash mixture, omitting the water
