Homemade Fizzing Toilet Bowl Cleaner is super simple to make, and inexpensive, too. They’re just as effective as the expensive store-bought version!
Not only are these simple and inexpensive to make, but they might just get your kids to clean the toilet! I don’t know about you, but I have a soon-to-be eight-year-old son that still seems to miss the bowl frequently. Cleaning the bathrooms is one of household chores I hate the most. I am super grateful that Mr. Juggling Act often takes on that chore for me! Keeping your toilet bowl clean, and smelling fresh is easy though when you have these little Homemade Fizzing Toilet Bowl Cleaner pucks. The kids will ask you all the time if they can drop one in to see the fun chemical reaction. From there, it’s just a matter a few quick swipes with the toilet wand, and a disinfectant wipe or two and you’re done. Pretty nice, huh?

– Silicone Mold such as this Round Cylinder Silicone Mold
– A bowl to mix in
– A spray bottle (pick them up super cheap at the Dollar Store)
– 2 Tbsp Castile Soap such as Dr. Bronner’s Fair Trade & Organic Castile Liquid Soap
– 2 Tbsp water
– 30 Drops of Simply Citrus Essential Oil Blend *
– 1/2 Cup of Citric Acid such as Citric Acid, Organic, 100% Pure
– 1 Cup of Baking Soda
The essential oil is optional but I find it helps keep your bathroom smelling fresh!
Instructions:
– In your spray bottle, mix your castile soap, water, and essential oil
– In your mixing bowl add your citric acid and baking soda
– The mixture is activated by being with water, so it’s important that you don’t spray too much at one time or you will activate the recipe
– Spray the mixture once and stir the mixture
– Continue to spray once and mix until the mixture is able to hold a shape (squeeze a bit with your hand, if it stays in a ball then the mixture is ready)
– scoop the mixture into your mold and gently press it down
– Let it sit until it has dried completely (I leave mine overnight)
– Once dried, pop them out of the silicone mold and store in a sealed container in a cool, dry place
The baking soda helps to deodorize, the essential oils are naturally antibacterial and anti-fungal, and the citric acid will help to dissolve hard water stains. You can use these pods as often as you like to help keep your toilet clean!
I love making my own cleaners and other household products using basic ingredients I can find in my pantry and some of my favorite essential products. Pinned! I love all of your ideas. Thank you!
