I’m going to take a few words from the great Pioneer Woman, Ree Drummond, and tell you that if you are my mother, sister, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, best friend or one of my children’s teachers stop reading this right now.
Yes, I know that unlike the great Pioneer Woman, I’m risking telling half my readers in a day to go away.
Well, it’s for a good reason – you see today I’m sharing with you a super simple Coconut Sugar Scrub – so simple, inexpensive, and yet so lusciously wonderful that many of the above mentioned ladies may be getting a jar of it at Christmastime!
Materials:
Organic Coconut Oil
Pure Cane Sugar
Sweet Orange Essential Oil
Half-Pint Canning Jars
Directions:
Start by measuring the coconut oil into a mixing bowl. You’ll want 1/2 cup of oil for each half pint jar. This is my first experience with coconut oil.
I splurged a bit and went to Trader Joe’s for Organic Virgin Coconut Oil – it was about $6 for a 16-ounce jar, but I can make 4 half-pint jars of this lovely scrub with it. Don’t be alarmed when you take the cover off to find a semi-solid that resembles shortening (but smells oh-so-delicious!) Microwave the coconut oil for 20-seconds at a time until it is liquid, then add 4 drops of Sweet Orange essential oil for each jar.
Stir in 1 cup of sugar for each jar until the mixture resembles a paste. Screw the lids on tight, and store in a cool, dry place.

You might check your local Costco. You can get a huge jug of organic virgin coconut oil for about $23.
What the directions for its use?
I recieved a jar of your wonderful sugar scrub from a sorority sister (who had made it), for Christmas. I am usually not into a lot of “cosmetics” and “luxury” body lotions and so on…..BUT….I LOVE this scrub and have used it all up. So, I asked her if she was making it to sell. She said “no, I just made it for my sorority sisters as a gift” but…she did give me your web site so now I can make it also. Thank you….it’s a wonderful product and I am going to make it to give as gifts this year also.
I can’t believe how soft my skin is once I wash this off!

Sue, thank you for your sweet note! I’m so glad that you loved it and took the time to find out how to make it and leave me a comment – it just made my day 🙂 I have several other ones that you might want to check out, too.
