Reading Challenge

I'm a book fanatic - I hoard them like my life depends on it... in fact, if Mr. Juggling Act has to build one more bookshelf, my like may depend on my thinning out my collection... but I digress...

I love books.  I love curling up in an overstuffed chair and reading.  I love reading until 2am because I have to finish the chapter, and then the book.

When Ethan was born, I read much less since I had less free time, and since Olivia was born, it seems like I never have a spare minute to myself (even at 2am).

One of my goals for 2013 is simply to make time to

I'm going to take the Goodreads Challenge to read 12 books this year - grown up books - not children's books mind you, I might read half that in just one night!

Again, I digress... so just one a month, that's my goal... should be manageable, right?

I am excited to get started. So now for the fun part - what should I read? What books did you read last year that you loved?

Now if I could just convince Mr. Juggling Act to put together a few more shelves... and build me a new room...

  1. I just got a Kindle for Christmas and I have already been reading more---I think because it's so easy to pick up for just a few minutes at a time! I'm hoping to read more this year too, or at least until the third comes!

Another great benefit of Retirement and having all the little chickies grown up and on their own. More time to read!

    1. One of my dear friends has a Nook and loves it... I remember my grandparents both reading for hours at a time when I'd go to visit... that's where my love of reading really developed. I'll look forward to that... someday! :)

  4. I've been wanting to read more, and you are right! There is never enough time! While I haven't read it myself, I've seen a lot of other bloggers raving about The Snow Child. So that's my recommendation for ya lady :)

  5. I'll join you too! If you haven't read it yet one of my favorites is "Broken for You" its a little older in terms of "new" books (I think it came out about the time Ethan was born) but I ALWAYS have it on my "should read that again soon list

  7. If you don't mind a long book, I *loved* 11/22/63 by Stephen King. And no, it's not a horror story, I promise. :) Good luck with your challenge! :)

  8. I too love to read. And like you, since Drew was born, I haven't read nearly as much as I would have liked to. I read 9 books last year, from September till the end of the year. I also set my goal at 12 as well. I do good in the beginning of the year, but once spring and summer hit, I fall off course. My girlfriend set her goodreads challenge to 200 books!! I can't wait to see if she makes it!!

    Nice meeting you!
